About Travel Roulette
Hey, I'm Jay Lee — a father of lovely twins, a video game music composer, and an avid traveler. 🎮✈️ We hope you're having fun with our travel roulette.
When I was a kid, I used to watch National Geographic docs and BBC Planet Earth and think, "Wow, there are so many diverse and beautiful places in the world." But the older I got, the more I realized there's a limit to how many of those places we actually get to know and visit. We all tend to stick to what's familiar and comfortable — and that's okay, but it also means we only see a slice of what's out there.
In 2024 I started collecting data on places from all over the world. It hit me again just how many diverse and beautiful spots there are, and I wanted to share what I'd seen and gathered with everyone. Building this site has been a reminder of that — and I really want to share it with you.
Right now I live in Auckland with my lovely kids and my wife. New Zealand has so many great places, and I've got a long list I want to share here. If you're curious where to start, you can check out these three: Takapuna, Devonport, and Mt. Victoria.
This site is based on data I've gathered—sometimes from friends who live there, sometimes with a bit of help from AI, and sometimes by asking locals just like you. If you're a local and have any suggestions, please feel free to contact me at the email address below.
